The Island Republic of Malta
(Maltese: Repubblika ta' Malta), is one of the
smallest and most densely populated countries
of Europe, comprising an archipelago situated
centrally in the Mediterranean Sea, just 93 km
(58 miles) south of Sicily and 288 km (180 miles)
north-east of Tunisia.
:: Tarxien Temples
Tarxien Temples , dating from 3600 to 2500 BC, 
are one of the finest megalithic sites that have been
excavated to date in Malta
This site is also of unique importance because it
yielded the greatest concentration of decorative art
known from any of the temple sites.

The site was accepted as a UNESCO World Heritage
Site in 1980 along with the other Megalithic temples
on the island of Malta.
